Bird Carrier, Lightweight Breathable Bird Backpack, Portable Wild Bird Carrier with Standing Perch for Parrot Travel Vet Visit (Black)

$ 31.50

This is a very nice bird carrier that seems to be more oriented to smaller birds like cockatiels and parakeets rather than a full sized parrot. Our adult Blue Front Amazon would be rather cramped in this carrier as opposed to when he was younger. But then again, not all parrots are the same size, so I think it would also work well if you have a smaller parrot species. This is one of the nicer bird carriers I’ve seen and is very portable and not as clunky as some of the other carriers we presently have or have owned in the past. Once put together, the carrier feels very sturdy and secure. The materials this carrier is made from seem very durable as well and should do well for short outings, trips to the vet, etc.The zipper system on this bird carrier is a little tough to get started at first, but after zipping/unzipping a few cycles, the zippers begin to move more freely. I also like the litter tray and metal grate that fits over the litter tray. Both of these items are very easily cleaned with soap and warm water. They fit snugly together at the bottom of the carrier. Another nice feature of this carrier is the perch and attachable water and food dishes. The diameter of the perch is a little large for small birds but about right for an adult parrot like ours.I really like the see through door window where you can easily keep an eye on your bird while in the carrier. Likewise the back of the carrier has a roll up privacy flap that is used to cover/uncover your bird. This area is also screened in mesh with a permanent, non zippered area. Also of note is the easily held top transport handle as well as a shoulder strap that gives you options of how you want to carry the bird carrier. One side of the carrier also has a mesh door while the other side has a permanent mesh screen with a side pocket for carrying treats and other bird related essentials. It’s really a very nice design.My main concerns with this particular bird carrier is 1) lack of instructions and 2) the mesh materials used.1) The lack instructions isn’t really as big of a deal for me really because the product page clearly shows how the bird carrier should look when fully assembled. It doesn’t really take all that long to put the carrier together, or to disassemble for cleaning. Some may find a little difficulty, but referring to the product page pictures will help with assembly.2) The mesh screen construction material does concern me a little more though because I feel some birds could easily chew their way through it rather quickly. I’ve seen our own parrot go through similar mesh like it was his favorite treat. Ultimately a bird that could chew through this mesh could easily escape which leads directly to the safety of this carrier for some birds. But again, not all birds are the same and neither is their behavior. It brings me back to the type of bird that would be in this carrier. I had a parakeet that this would have worked perfectly for and she didn’t have a habit of chewing anything available except my finger now and then LOL.Overall I give this Bird Carrier a high Four Star rating because I know we can use it for other things instead of our parrot. Please don’t laugh, well maybe a chuckle or two when I tell you that I will likely use this bird carrier for some of my juvenile chickens that I hand raise and often provide to others. I feel the price point of this bird carrier to be very fair for the quality and design. I would recommend it to others but be sure to tell them to consider their birds overall size for the comfort of the bird.Four stars
